my work space. :)  my husband and i just bought our first home and it was my chance to have a proper work area. basically i needed an area for my sewing and space for my retro and vintage bric-a-brac...so without further ado.

 when you first walk-in, next to the door you will find some of my craft, art and kid books. also on the bookcase is my hello kitty bubble gun machine. my light box (yes, it actually lights up) with an image of gwen stefani's "love angel music baby" album cover hangs above the bookcase. these boxes were all the rage in record stores...when there were record stores.

as you come around you will see the sets of drawers where I keep my store's stock. each drawer has different products, the top ones are for jewelry and the lower ones have pouches and totes. the white boxes are shipping supplies and look don't you just love my junko mizuno poster! :)

the cubby holds my fabrics, each cube has a different major color scheme of fabrics.
basically all the blues are in one cube and all the red/pink are in another cube and so on.
the cutie shelves came with the room which is perfect for my figures and such.

you will also notice my vintage wig box and sewing basket, i love thrift stores!

last but not least is my desk, it's nice to have this area. i have my sewing machine, my serger and a wicked lime green chair! i also have my pegboard which i did myself. it's so helpful for keeping my desk organized. you will also notice the picture of my husband as a young skateboarding slacker.

all work and some play makes...

me happy! i got more ideas than i can say but there will be some new and exciting things coming.

first off i'm working on some stationary sets and if all my ducks line up i will have a cute holiday card for you to send out to your friends and family.

time for...

catch up.

first off i had my first vendor experience and it was fun!

i had a table at the atlanta rollergirls bout this past june and i met some really nice people.
i also learned a few things by watching some of the other vendors at the event.
the first thing was i need to bring more product which means i really need to get to work.

second, i need more display pieces to showcase my products.
i was able to find some nice baskets from the thrift store and i will continue to look so that next time i will have a super awesome display area.

i got this three tier basket for $2.50 at the local salvation army store and that plastic postcard holder for $1.50, what a deal!!

there were a few things that made me super proud, like my table sign

and my assistant, my hubby andy! :)

all in all it was a great evening and a great first vendor experience!



on shop news, i thought it would be fun to add a new item to the shop...yep, scrunchies!!

you may ask yourself, why?  well why not, they can hold your hair out of the way when you're washing your face and they won't damage your hair like most other ponytail holders and heck they're just fun! 
this fairy kei pair sold afterr just a couple of days so i'll be making  more this weekend so check out the shop to see what other combos we have in store.

now on a personal cuteness note, on July the 7th me and my husband celebrated our 8th anniversary of our first date!  yep. eight years ago we went on our first date and ever since we have been inseparable!! :)
as one of my awesome presents he got me this wonderful mini lalaloopsy treehouse!

i spent part of this afternoon taking pictures of the treehouse and the dolls!

and as you can tell this little lady likes to play in the mud puddles!

what i've been up to!

i've decided to make a series of postcards of some of my vintage toys and figures.
i have been collecting these for a number of years and i love them all, even the ones with chips and scrapes.  they are just too cute and if they could talk i'm sure they would have a ton to say. from the factory to the thrift store they would have stories and  maybe even a bit about me and my husband.... i guess it's a good thing they can't talk! ;) 

the postcards will be available in black tulip shop very soon, they will be sold in sets and individually.

i know, i know...

on other news i am drawing again (yay!!) and i've been having fun doing it!  i'm hoping to add some postcards of my artwork to the shop in the next few weeks. they will be an inexpensive way of adding more cuteness to your world.

now on to cool things, as part of my easter present my husband took me to fernbank's mythical creatures exhibit.  i had lots of fun my only complaint...not big enough.  i wanted more but hey it was fun and i got to see the unicorn, i adore unicorns!

now, i like to try different things and see how they come out and to be honest some don't come out so well but some do and that's when i'm super excited!!
my new project are key fobs, now you may be asking yourself what is a key fob?  well it's a piece of material you can loop around your wrist to hold your keys, change purse, or flash-drives.  it's really useful and in my case really cute!! check out these two i just made!!

it's been super exciting sending packages to asia, australia, europe, canada and around the usa.

spring has...

sprung and wow it's lovely outside.
the trees are just so pretty and fluffy but with great weather come great pollen.  now granted i don't have the horrific allergies but i do have the classic "somethings in my eyes" and "why will my nose not stop running" complaints.  oh well it's a small price to pay for such great weather!

i'm super excited to be heading to the macon cherry blossom festival this weekend!!!  me and the old man will pack up the girls and head to the park. i'm hoping to get some great pictures of the girls modeling some of my new creations like this little number i just listed in my etsy shop.

i'm feeling good and looking forward to my next post of cherry blossoms and dolls, stay tuned.

for japan is very strong and my heart broke when i heard the news of the quake and tsunami. besides the money i will be donating on my own i will be giving 10% or more of the shop's sales to the red cross to help with the relief effort. i've been lucky enough to have been to japan twice and i have nothing but wonderful memories and love for the land and people of japan, so head on over to the shop to help the folks who inspire me and many others to bring kawaii to the masses!

i've been thinking

 about making these for some time. today was the day i decided to sit down and work on them, introducing the bow cuff. the cuff features my simple and elegant bow on a fabric cuff with a elastic loop. i adore using the elastic loop because it makes it comfortable for larger wrist and there is a cute bow button to hold the loop too!! check out the first in a series of the bow cuffs.
